| Charak urges to construct roads on war footing in double shifts | | | JAMMU, MAY 16 In order to provide regular traffic, Minister for R&B Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak today inspected the ongoing construction work of Janipur-Ambghrota, Bishnah, Dabbered, Prithipur and Vijaypur main roads. Chief Engineer R&B Mr. M. M Sharma, Executive Engineer Mr. K. D. Salalia, Mr. Tasleem Mustaffa, Mr. J. K. Gupta and other senior officers of R&B were also accompanied. Chief Engineer R&B apprised the Minister that the construction work of Janipur-Ambghrota main road including 45 culverts would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 7.58 crore. He said that 17 kilometre Jainpur-Kot Bhalwal main road and 33 culverts have been completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.95 crore and remaining 12 works are under progress. Charak asked the engineers to repair city, main, and rural areas roads on a war footing basis and complete these within stipulated time frame so that the general masses do not face any inconvenience. He said that the present government is making concerted efforts to connect every village of three regions of the state with town and city. He said that there is no compromise on quality of work and any lapse in this regard, shall be dealt with stern action against the executing agencies. Minister directed the engineers to speed up the construction and upgradation work on all the road projects taken in different schemes before rainy season. He asked the engineers to remain present in their respective areas and personally monitor the ongoing pace of work and complete these in double shifts for the benefit of people. Earlier, the Minister also inspected the ongoing construction work of Indira Gandhi Dental College and asked the JKPCC engineers to complete it speedily in double shifts.
