| Handloom, NABARD discuss weavers problems | | |

Assistant General Manager NABARD from Chandigarh Mr. D.K. Majundar, DDM NABARD District Kathua Mr. L.R. Dogra and Assistant Director Handloom Development Department Kathua Mr. V.K. Dhar conducted extensive tour of Billawar and Basholi blocks of district Kathua from May 8 to 11 for conducting diagnostic study for development of Handloom clusters in these blocks.
During their tour they interacted with the traditional weavers of the areas and listened their problems. Team visited industrial Pashmina weavers at Basholi, so as to understand their problems. The weavers of the areas apprised the officers that they have to suffer badly due to financial and marketing problems. Most of the weavers expressed their willingness to work with more vigor if they are provided adequate financial assistance for produce of raw Pashmina and the repaired machinery equipments.
Weavers narrated their problems with the Assistant Director Handloom Kathua and apprised him of the problems being faced by them for getting bank loan under credit plan scheme. In this regard team also visited the State Bank of India Basholi where the Branch Manager assured to extend all possible help to the weavers regarding loan under the credit plan scheme so that their financial problems can be mitigated to some extent
