| Jammu Mukti Morcha, State Morcha Join Hands to spearhead statehood movement | | |

Realizing the need to stay united under one umbrella various political groups and social organizations on Wednesday once again joined hands to strengthen the movement of separate statehood for Jammu under the banner of Jammu State Morcha (Progressive).
The new entity brought together workers of two main parties including Jammu Mukti Morcha and Jammu state Morcha, prominent citizens and all other supporters of statehood for Jammu region.
Addressing a joint press conference here today, Prof Virendra Gupta flanked by various other leaders and senior citizens announced that in the developing political scenario of the state it is being realized by the people of Jammu region that their future is completely dark. Their interests and aspirations are being sold out to appease the Kashmir leaders and the people.
Gutpa said that in the coming days several MLAs too would join their party to fight for the identity of Jammu region which is being threatened by Kashmiri leadership. He said the people of the region are being dragged and pushed on the path pre determined by the Kashmiri leaders that leads to secession of the state from India and making it a non-secular ethnic state. He announced that all its leaders will immediately tour the whole of Jammu region and set up the organization units at the district, block and tehsil and village levels and would contest assembly elections on the agenda of statehood for Jammu region.
Training his guns towards union Govt, Prof Gupta said the centre is blindly following the dictates of Kashmiri leaders and expressed shock saying that even the foreign policy of the country with regard to Jammu and Kashmir is being determined by the pro-secessionist elements.
He said the leadership at the centre is confused, lacks courage and conviction to meet the challenge of terrorism.
Expressing fears, Prof Gupta told reporters that in any future settlement of Jammu and Kashmir problem, Jammu region is going to be sacrificed. The voice of Jammu region is not being heard in any quarters as the political leaders of Jammu region particularly those belonging to the Kashmir based and all Indian level political parties are behaving like puppets to their masters in the valley or in Delhi.
Referring to the outcome of the three round table conferences, Prof Gupta said the outcome of the RTC was very discouraging. He said there is no intention to address the refugee problems at all and the Kashmir based leadership is determined not to give citizenship rights to those who migrated from Pakistan in 1947 even after their stay of 60 years in the state. Gupta said that there is no other option left for the people of Jammu region except to launch a massive struggle for the achievement of a separate state for Jammu region.
HB Khajuria, Abdul Rauf Ganai have been apoined as vice President. Vijay Singh as secretary general and Devender Singh and Sardar Gurdeep Singh Bijral have been named as party general secretaries.
