Sikhs continue protest, urge punjab CM for Immediate action

Angry with the conduct of the Dera Sacha Sauda chief Baba Gurmit Ram Rahim large nuber of sikhs continue to hold protest demonstrations for the second consecutive day here in Jammu.Early in the morning large number of sikhs in Digiana area came on to the streets brandishing swords and blocked traffic on the Jammu Pathamkot highway for quite some time. Angry sikh youth and several others burnt tyres on the national highway and disrupted traffic.Protestors also marched in small groups from Nanak Nagar area and shouted slogans against the dera chief for committing an act of sacrilege.
The palpable tension in city areas inhabited by majority of Sikhs witnessed heavy police deployment to contain the damage over the emotive issue.
MeanwhileLeaders of various Sikh organizations at a meeting held here today urged Punjab government to immediately arrest Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Baba Gurmit Ram Rahim.
The meeting which was presided over by Sudershan Singh Wazir, former President Shri Gurudwara Prabandhak Board,while condemning the stance of Dera Sacha Sauda chief said that sacrilege committed by him would not be tolerated by sikhs all over the world.
During the meeting it was also decided to send Mr Manjeet Singh and Mr Amreek Singh, members ofDelhi Gurudwara prabandhak committee to attend the meting convened by the jathedars of Akal Takht at Takht Dam dama sahib on May 17 for chalking out the next course of action.
Sikh leaders Harjeet Singh, Paramjit Singh President AISSF,Narbhir Singh of Shiromani Youth Akali Dal and several others appealed to the Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal to initiate immediate action agaiant Dera Sacha Sauda chief for calling himself as the 10th sikh guru
