Rashid represents India in International Conference

Abdul Rashid, a research scholar of the Department of Botany, University of Jammu has brought laurels to the University (JU) by representing the country at ‘1st International conference on Medicinal and Aromatic plants conference on culinary herbs” at Antalya, Turkey from 29th April to 4th May.
The conference was organized by the International society of Horticulture scientists (ISHS) and Akdeniz University, in association with the FAO. A total of 39 countries and 11 world leading Commercial Organizations were represented at the conference.
Belika Meno from Israel, David Prot from Australia, Ms. Asye Tascan from USA, Ms. Costella Vio from Netherland and Abdul Rashid from University of Jammu (India), India were the five selected research students who got the “ISHS Grant for Young Researchers” across the globe. Rashid presented two Research Papers during the conference and interacted with the scientists from all over the world. He was also invited to visited the “Ataturk Central Research Institure” at Yalova and delivered an Invited Talk on the Topic “Some Mediterranean Elements in the Flora of Jammu and Kashmir State-status and prospects”.
The conference was attended by many world renowned plant biologists including Prof. K.H. Basher from Turkey, Prof. Eli Putievsky from Israel, Dr. S. Nicola from Italy, Prof. Eva Namath Franz from Hungry, Dr. Keran Joe from South Africa, Prof. Chowdwig Franz from Australia, Dr. M. Mirced from Switzerland and many others.
During the six day deliberations scientists discussed various aspects of medicinal, aromatic and culinary herbs i.e. concerns and prospects. Prof. R. Cracker (Editor, Journal of Medicinal Plants and Herbs Species), in the key note speaker asked the scientists to work for achieving the food and Health care security for an ever growing human population.
According to press release, Rashid has been appointed as the steering committee member for Environmental Problems and Modelling by Sultan Dameril University and Anadalu Bil School of Higher Education, Istambul Turkey.
Presently, Rashid’s doing his Ph. D. under the supervision of Prof. V.K. Anand, Head, Department of Botany and Dean, Life Sciences, University of Jammu.
