| Union MoS HRD attracts ire of state BJP on Madarassa issue | | Party to take up matter with the high command, seek motion against minister | |
Sanjay Khajuria Jammu May 16 Believe it or not but it is now official and that too from the top - the Parliament (Lok Sabha) that the Jammu and Kashmir is not having a single Madarssa on its soil. Like world famous Ripley’s title of believe it or not the news has become indigestible to the people of Jammu with some coming at forefronts to decline the statistics furnished by the concerned agencies. Talking to the ‘Early Times’ State president BJP Ashok Khajuria ridiculed the statement and said, “this is astonishing that such statement is tabled on the floor of the august house of parliamentarians.’ Alleging the concerned minister and authorities for morphing the statistics with ‘goodies-goodies,’ Khajuria said, “the state government has furnished false and baseless details and created an illusion in this regard.’ Leveling serious charges upon the state government, he said that it is endevouring for the complete Islamization of the state. He also criticized the All Party Meet –2007 and said that fundamentalistic forces and proponents of Islamization roosted the APM-07 and created blockades in the roadmap chalked out by jammu based voices. He also mentioned that he will be leaving for the New Delhi to take the matter with the senior party leader and party secretary Vijay Malhotra. ‘Party may seek a action against the erring ministers be it the union and the state for furnishing wrong data on the floor of the house and breaching the trust of the House and people of India. It is against the ethics of democracy, he said. Worthwhile to mention here that the statistics tabled in the Lok Sabha pin pointed that of the total 27518 Madarassas scattered all across the nation there exist none in the soil of the Jammu and Kashmir. Further the officials records also mentioned that the highest number of the Madarassas have been reportedly noticed in the left ruled Kerala and BJP ruled Madya Pradesh each state housing about 6000 such religious schools on its soil. Reports stated that in a written reply to a question raised in Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Human Resources and Development (HRD) D Purandeswari accounted that other states having Madarassas included Uttar Pradesh housing 4292 and Bihar 4102 surprisingly minority (Muslim) majority state Jammu and Kashmir found no place in this empanelment. Prof Virendra Gupta president of the newly launched pro Jammu platform Jammu State Morcha Progressive outrightly denied the statement of the MoS HRD and said it is false and baseless. Prof Gupta doubted either the statistics are fabricated or the concerned agencies have deliberately turned a blind eye to the existence of such religious schools. He also rejected the statement of Union Minister of State for HRD referring to only 86 private schools being run by the State Waqf Board. He however recalled that Farooq Abdullah during his last tenure as a chief minister even stopped the financial aid to madarssas and also added that some within the city like Ustad Mohhalla, Gujjarnagar, Bhatindi, Talab Khatihan are functional. How come the agencies failed to identify the madarassas, I fail to understand? He questioned.
