| SDH, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar san basic facilities | | | DODA, MAY16 Despite tall claims of the state government about the improvement in health sector, the Sub District Hospitals at Kishtwar and Bhaderwah san the basic medicare facilities. A visit to the hospital complex one can witness the deteriorating condition of the medicare facilities available in the hospital. Lack of proper staff, life saving machines, drugs, improper planning and heaps of garbage welcome the patients and visitors in the hospital. The Sub District Hospitals Kishtwar and Bhaderwah does not seem to fall in the category of hospitals as they lack all the facilities normally a hospital should have. While the dress code among the doctors and para-medical staff does not seem of any consequence, the wards are filthy and emanate foul smell round the clock making it impossible to venture into these wards. No doctor or a nurse can be seen in proper dress and it looks as if everybody is a patient or visitor in the hospital with no body occupying his designated chair. There are no restrictions for the attendants and one can see scores accompanying a patient squatting on the beds without any hesitation. The dirt is every where and patients remove it themselves and the filth and dirt gets piled up in the corners of the wards. “The government has totally failed to redress the public grievances despite their repeated commitments” says Koshal Dogra, a resident. He further said that number of times the government as well as the authorities at the helm of affairs has been informed about the deplorable condition of the hospitals but till date no concrete steps have been taken. Another resident Zahoor Hussain said, “The Blood Bank is with out blood and the hospital is under staff. Various posts of doctors are lying vacant but no body seems to be serious in this regard” “People are forced to shift their patients to Jammu in case of any minor problem as the Hospitals lack specialist’s doctors”he added.
