| Manufacturing of illicit liquor gains momentum in RS Pura | | Females outnumber men in this illicit trade | | R. S. Pura| May 16 Though the manufacturing of ‘desi’ wine is in full swing in the areas of R.S.Pura, Arnia, Miran Sahib and Bishnah, yet no action is being taken by the concerned departments against those involved in the illicit trade and those arrested are being left Scot free on money consideration. . According to the sources, the villages like Naugran, Kotli Charkan, Kotli Arjaun Singh,Chak Tara, Agra Chak, Pindi, Phinder, Koolein, Chak, Kool, Rathana, Kotli Mian Fateh have become a grinding mills for manufacture of illicit wine. But the most surprising thing is that, in this process, the women out number the men in the trade. In certain cases the entire family is involved in this illicit trade. The manufacturers have developed a noval method for preparing the ‘desi’ wine and to make it more intoxicant they use capsules and injection, harmful for the health. The tablets like Alprozolm and Alprax and the injectionslike Pentazopin, Dezipom and Sortwin are mixed in the wine as it takes just couple of hours to prepare wine as against 15-20 days taken to manufacture the original wine. According to the experts consumption of this type of ‘desi wine’ has largely contributed in growing heart attacks and mental problems. According to sources, a pouch of this type of wine is readily available within the manageable cost of just Rs.5 to 10. The sources confirmed that youth are more addict to this type of wine and if this trend continues it would prove dangerous for the society as a whole. Regretting that Police and the Excise Department though aware of this illicit trade have been watching all this like mute spectators, the sources said that their inaction has given a free deal to the manufacturers to carry on this illicit trade without any let or hindrance. Surprisingly when some of the persons involved in this trade were booked by the Policy, they were let off the same movement on money consideration, the sources claimed. How long this practice would continue, only the time will tell. SSP Border, Rajinder Gupta when contacted maintained that whenever any report comes to their notice immediate taken action is taken against the accused.
