| ‘Delay in performing operation causes death of child in womb’ | | Protest demonstration held against doctors’ negligence | | Kishtwar May-17 Leaders of several political parties and the inhabitants of Kishtwar today blocked the road disrupting vehicular traffic for several hours in protest against the alleged negligence of the doctors leading to the death of unborn child. The reports said that one Nirmala Devi wife of Subash Chander of Palmar Kishtwar, who was admitted in Hospital yesterday, gave birth to a dead child as the doctors failed to operate her well in time. The husband and the parents of the lady alleged that despite their repeated requests the doctors on duty did not attend the patient as a result the child died in the womb They alleged that Dr Aseem Sharma Gynecologist demanded money for performing operation and her delaying tactics resulted into the death of the child. The reports said that on becoming the condition of the patient serious, her father-in-law somehow arranged money for the doctor and approached the Dr.Assem who referred him to Dr. Naqeeb. The later again directed him to approach Dr Assem and make payment to her. The operation was conducted after a lapse of 22 hours from the time of admission; the child had breathed the lost in the womb till then. Had the operation been performed in time the child could have been saved, they added. The reports reveal that due to tussle between the Dr Assem Sharma and Dr G M Naqeeb the poor lady lost her off spring before its birth. The rift between the two is attributed to the money which Dr Naseeb is reported to be charging from the patients without giving any share to his counterpart. Sub Divisional Magistrate, Kishwar, Ms Sandeep Kour, who reached on the spot assured the protestors that inquiry would be conducted into the incident and directed SHO concerned to file FIR and take up investigation. In the meantime, Shaqir Sidiqi PDP leader has asked the Government to immediately shift both the doctors including the BMO Dr Shabir and alleged that no operation is performed in the hospital without paying money. A Congress leader Pyare Lal Shan alleged that some of the doctors are drunken during duty hours and called for stern action against irresponsible doctors.
