JDA strike exposes Azad’s slogan of ‘Work Culture, Good Governance’
Fasting employees starts journey to emergency wards, Jamwal hospitalized
5/18/2007 11:08:30 PM

Jammu | May 18
Questioning the slogan of work culture harped by the Ghulam Nabi Azad regime the halt in Jammu Development Authority (JDA) Office has made people to the suffer a lot. Simultaneously it has once again underlined the issue of discrimination between the two regions viz. Jammu and Kashmir as government has turned a blind eye towards the just and genuine demands of the employees of the Jammu region. Surprisingly, instead of paying heed to the grievances of the fasting JDA employees, authorities with the help of police personnel forcibly took away the peacefully protesting president, general secretary and organizing secretary of the JDA employees union.
Worth to mention that alleging the vice chairman JDA for misbehaving with some employees and tagging them as corrupt officials has forced the employees to wage a stir demanding the ‘change of guard’ in the department. Finding no solution to their issues and demands, the JDA employees went to the fast unto death in an effort to intensify their strike and to impress the state government upon their demands. Infact the halt of the functioning of the said department and the state government unlike other protests is turning a blind eye towards this issue.
The ongoing stir against VC-JDA has exposed the vicious realities behind the tall claims of Azad government as the working in the JDA office remained paralyzed for 15th consecutive day resulting into inconvenience to many. But, none of the representative from the government side has bothered to look into the matter while the employees sitting on “Fast unto Death” from the last five days in protest against the alleged malpractices of its Vice Chairman, have started trekking their way towards the emergency wards of hospitals.
JDA employees union has leveled serious allegations of link with noted land mafias and colonizers against the Vice Chairman Ashok Parmar. It was further alleged that he is also habitual of sitting in the office after office hours and meeting people of ill repute which includes women also and taking drinks with them in his office chamber. Talking to ‘Early Times’, President JDA Employees Union Ashok Singh, who was lying on bed in GMC, said even Minister for Housing and Urban Development has betrayed them with fake assurance of action in the matter. The minister had telephonically assured the agitating employees to take up the meeting the yesterday’s cabinet meeting but he didn’t pick the issue there, Jamwal added.
Meanwhile, the condition of the employees sitting on ‘Fast unto Death’ was stated to be critical and another batch of employees was ready to go on fast.
