Contribute voluntarily for Red Cross Society-DDC

UDHAMPUR, MAY 18
District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Mr. O.P. Kalandria who is also the chairman of District Red Cross Society has urged upon the functionaries of the Society to put in their concerted efforts in mobilizing Red Cross voluntary donations from the society to strengthen the humanitarian mission of the society.
The DDC, who was addressing a meeting of Executive Committee members of Red Cross Society, Udhampur on Friday said that the Indian Red Cross Society depends upon volunteers to accomplish the organization’s mission, providing a relief to victims of disasters, healthcare and helping prevent emergencies. He emphasized that their normal responsibilities to contribute time and service to a non-profit cause is beneficial to others as well as their mental satisfaction.
During the meeting, the Chairman in consultation with the members of the society suggested various means to raise funds for the society. It was decided that the those private educational institutions of the district who are not contributing towards the society, the Chief Education Officer would keep their results withheld till receipt of contribution from such defaulting institutions.
Regarding distribution of First-Aid boxes to schools, the DDC instructed the Chief Education Officer to increase the number of such boxes to 200 including those High and Higher Secondary Schools where Rehber-I-Sehat teacher was not available. Mr. Kalandria asked the members to identify and recommend the poorest of the poor cases for granting assistance under the ambit of the society so that deserving persons could be benefited. He also called for organizing volunteer blood donation camps as per the requirement of blood bank set up at district hospital, Udhampur.
Other issues which were discussed in the meeting included reconciliation of funds, revival of Junior Red Cross and Young Red Cross Societies, separate accommodation for housing the office of Secretary, District Red Cross Society in DC office premises with required facilities etc.
Among others, Additional SP, Udhampur, Mr. Anil Magotra, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital, Dr. K.K. Gupta, ARTO, Mr. Nanak Chand, Secretary, Red Cross Society, Dr. V.P. Sharma, Non-official members and Life members of the Society including Sham Swaroop Kalsotra, Mr. Sita Ram Sharma, Mr. Subash Sharma, Vikram Slathia, Kavi Raj Sharma and Ravi Malguria, Smt Raj Kumari and Mr. Amar Nath Mehra were present in the meeting.
