| Anil (Mohnu) lifts 9th Bhamag Kesri 2007 title | | | UDHAMPUR, MAY 18 Pahalwan Anil Kumar (Mohanu) Patha Ranga Pahalwan, Jammu lifted 9th Bhamag Kesri –2007 title by defeating Pahalwan Benia of J&K Police of Basantgarh (Udhampur) in the final bout (Ist Malli) in a very tough bout played in 22 minutes at Sardhabar, Kalsote in block Panchari of district Udhampur yesterday evening. Pahalwan Anil was also adjudged as the best wrestler in the 9th Bhamag Kesri Annual Vishal Dangal. He was awarded cash prize of Rs.1500 with traditional “Silver Gurj and Patta” while cash prize of Rs.1100 was given to runner up Benia Pahalwan. The Dangal was sponsored by Amar Memorial Trust Katra and was organized by J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the supervision of its President Mr. Shiv Kumar Sharma who is also President, Amar Memorial Trust, Katra. The District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Mr. O.P. Kalandria was the chief guest on the occasion and Mr.Shiv Kumar Sharma who is also Treasurer of Indian Style Association of India, presided over the function. Speaking on the occasion, the District Development Commissioner said that such events are imperative for physical fitness besides providing a source of entertainment to the spectators especially in rural areas. Such occasions also provide a chance among wrestlers of different areas to interact and develop friendship. Mr. Shiv Kumar Sharma said that 37 bouts in all were played in this Dangal. The second main bout was played between Onkar Singh of BSF Kathua v/s Muskan Ali of Hoshiarpur. Onkar won the bout in 11 minutes whereas 3rd. bout was won by Qasim Din (Billu) by defeating Kuldeep Singh of Ladha. Technical officials who helped for conduct of this Vishal Dangal included Jagdish Singh, Madan Lal, Kartar Singh, Lashman Singh Katoch, Mohd. Fareed, Miru, Sandoor Singh, Dina Nath and Parmodh Singh. Among others, Chairman, Lord Shiv-Parvati Cave Shrine Development Board, Moungri, Advocate Swatantra Dev Kotwal, Ex-MLA, Mr. Jagjeevan Lal, Chairman Trikuta Valley Forum, Mr. Sardari Lal Dubey, Senior Vice-President Hotel and Restaurant Association, Katra, Mr. Rakesh Wazir, Tehsildar Kartar Singh, Mela Officer, Mr. Gopal Singh who were the guests of honour, also witnessed the wrestling match.
