| Private, public sector to engage local youth on priority: Mangat | | | Srinagar, May 18 Minister for Labour, Employment and Ladakh Affairs Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma has said that local unemployed youths will be given preference for engagement in public and private sectors to meet the requirement of security and para military forces where civil laborers and porters are engaged. Minister was interacting with a deputation of Kargil who called on him here today. Minister for Social Welfare Haji Nissar Ali, Minister for Power, Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora, Legislators Mr. Ghulam Raja, Mr. P. Namgial were also present. Deputationists presented charter of demands which include engagement of local youth as porters in Army and para military forces in Ladakh region and enhancement of remuneration of Chokidar and Numberdars besides boosting development activities in the region especially in Kargil. Mr. Sharma issued directions to the Labour Commissioner to personally visit Kargil and take up the matter with Army and other para military forces operating in the area for engagement of local youth as porters. He also directed to conduct survey for obtaining exact number of local and outsider labourers/porters engaged by different agencies in the region. He said that matter regarding enhancement of honorarium for Chowkidars and Numberdars is under active consideration of government. Prominent among the deputationists were Mr. Ghulam Hussain, President Mr. Akhoon Amin, Vice President, Haji Mohammad Ali, Haji Mohammad Issa, Haji Asgar, Haji Issa and Haji Abdullah.
