| Three killed, 38 injured in road mishap | | |
SRINAGAR , AUGUST 8, : Three commuters were killed, while 38 others were injured when an overloaded passenger bus on its way to Lahdoo Pampore to Srinagar skidded off the road and fell into 50 feet deep gorge near Sempoora on Jammu-Srinagar highway on Tuesday morning. According to the reports reaching here, a fast moving minibus bearing registration number JK01F-6140, with 41 persons on board skidded off the road at Sempoora on Srinagar-National Highway at 9:15 hours IST and fell into 50 feet deep gorge, killing three persons identified as Farooq Ahmad Tak son of Ghulam Nabi of Pampore, Fayaz Ahmad Bala son of Ali Mohammad Bala of Pursoo Pampore and Nazir Ahmad Ganie son of Ghulam Nabi Ganie of Gurdibal Pampore on spot. Sources said that other 38 commuters, who were injured in the accident, were rushed to the SMHS hospital for treatment. Sources added that driver of vehicle has surrendered himself to the police station Pampore. The cause of the accident is believed to be overload, as 41 persons were in the bus against the capacity of 26.
