| PDP leaders call for survey of losses due to hailstorm | | |
Srinagar, May 19
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Patron, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and the party President, Ms Mehbooba Mufti have expressed shock and sorrow over the loss of precious lives and damages to the property and crops due to yesterday's thunderstorm.
In a statement issued here today, the PDP leaders while expressing grief over the loss of lives in the nature's fury have asked the Government to conduct a detailed survey of the damages caused to properties and various crops, especially cherry and apple by the storm. They said after the last year's floods, yesterday's hailstorm has caused extensive damages and the Government must come to the rescue of the affected.
The PDP leaders have urged the Central Government to release special grant from the Natural Calamities Fund to the State so that the affected families are provided adequate relief.
