| Drive against bill boards: Divine intervention set the wrong right | | |
Jammu, May 19 Where the Government authorities had not dared to act the almighty intervened and set the wrong right. This became evident when a huge bill board installed on the outer wall of the Amar Singh Club, on which were inscribed Baisakhi greetings from R&B Minister, Gulchain Singh Charak and Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad, was tumbled down by a heavy dust storm that lashed the city of temples on the night of Friday. The Divine intervention spared the city of the unwholesome sight of several other hoardings for which the political leaders had not sought approval from the Jammu Municipal Corporation. The members of the Amar Singh Club has protested against the installation of the billboard on the club walls but neither Muncipal Corporation nor any Government agency had dared to remove it because of the fear of Gulchain Singh Charak who had taken the opportunity of installing such hoardings to convince the Chief Minister of his loyalty if not total sycophancy. He wanted to register his presence on the political map of the state by putting up these billboards. And it attracted peoples’attention which had been distracted by his poor performance as the minister for which he has earned displeasure from several party legislators,if not nthe Chief Minister. What amazed the passersby was the way the duststorm had smashed the huge hoarding installed near the Government Quarter, allotted to Panthers Party supreme,Prof. Bhim Singh,in Gandhi Nagar area. The billboard carried his picture alongwith two senior party functionaries informing people about the plenary session of the Panthers Party. Several other companies had to suffer loss of face when the hoardings of their companies were smashed by the dusstorm. The worst drive against the hoardings by the duststorm was witnessed near the Jewel Chowk area.Few hoardings, installed on either side of the Tawi bridge, were also flattened. But the one, showcasing police men at the service of common people withstood the fury of duststorm. It did not cause any inconvenience to those who had spent money on installing these billboards. But the duststorm hit hard the Jhugi wallas whose shanties were partially damaged. In the areas of these under privileged people remained awake all the night as their slumber was disturbed by the whistling winds and the screeching storm |
