Amarnath Yatra-2007 preparations
Hakeem reviews transport arrangements, assures upgraded facilities for devotees

JAMMU, MAY 19
Maintaining that providing of adequate and proper transport facilities to the devotees during pilgrimage season forms the priority of coalition Government, the Minister for Transport, Hakim Mohammad Yaseen stressed for making every arrangement well in time for the convenience of pilgrims.
While reviewing the transport arrangements being made for the ensuing Amaranth Yatra at a meeting of senior officers convened here today, the Minister said that sufficient number of vehicles would be kept available for the safe and smooth journey of devotees. He said the Government is committed to provide best of facilities to the pilgrims who throng in lakh to have a glimpse of Shivlingam during Amarnath Yatra.
Interacting with Officers from Transport and Tourism Department, Hakim Yaseen enquired about the preparations made this year as well the success percentage of previous years. He directed the SRTC to gear up their buses and make available maximum of the number during yatra period besides proper registration of private vehicles. He asked them to strictly adhere to the time schedule regarding departure of buses from Jammu.
Emphasizing on smooth flow of traffic on National Highway, the Minister instructed the traffic authorities to ensure proper traffic regulation and avoid unnecessary halts to avoid traffic jams and chaos. He asked them to monitor routine Jammu-Srinagar daily service as it should also not be hampered at any spot besides ensuring that the supplies reach Srinagar in time.
On the mismanagement regarding rates charged by private transporters, Hakim Yaseen directed the Managing Director SRTC Mr G N Sofi and General Managers SRTC to monitor the same as SRTC buses should be readily available for the comfortable pilgrimage of visitors.
The Minister was apprised that the Tourism Department would start publicity campaign by installing of hoardings and banners at conspicuous places for the convenience of devotees well before the start of Yatra season.
Hakim Yaseen stressed for maintaining liaison and proper coordination with the administration and Tourism Department for the peaceful conduct of Amarnath Yatra.
IGP, Jammu Mr. S. P. Vaid, Commissioner Secretary Tourism Mr. D. K. Nargotra, SSP Traffic Mr. S.S. Wattali, Regional Transport Officer, Mr. F C Bhagat, Joint Director Information, Mr. S. K. Sharma, besides senior officers from Tourism and SRTC were present on the occasion.
