| 13,600 fruit saplings planted in Pouni | | | REASI, MAY 19 The Horticulture department has implemented various schemes to make rural people of Pouni, Bharakh, Bhambla and Ransoo aware about latest techniques in the field of horticulture to boost fruit production for the betterment of people living in such far-flung and hilly areas. It was disclosed by the Horticulture Development Officer, Pouni at a meeting held at Pouni yesterday. During the meting, it was disclosed that 65 hectares of area was covered under technology mission by planting 9900 fruit saplings in different areas of Pouni block by benefiting 72 beneficiaries during the last financial year. Under Dry Land programme, 11 hectares of area was covered by planting 1550 fruit plants of various species which has covered 14 beneficiaries. Similarly, under Trible Sub-Plan 4 hectares of area was covered by planting 1000 fruit plants thus covering and 28 beneficiaries the block. Under Development of Scheduled Caste Programme, 5.2 hectare was covered by planting 1150 fruit plants which has covered 30 beneficiaries. Likewise, 4 water community tanks under 50 percent subsidy were also constructed at a cost of Rs 2.33 lakh, 2 dug wells at a cost of Rs 25000 were also provided besides the constructing one farm handling unit at a cost of Rs 50,000 for the facility of the rural people during the period.
