| Zonal level sports tournament inaugurated at Majalta | | |
UDHAMPUR, MAY 19
Department of Youth Services and Sports, Udhampur organized a Zonal level Annual Inter-School tournament in the premises of Government Higher Secondary School, Majalta in district Udhampur, yesterday where 216 male and female students drawn from 12 educational institutions in the age group of 14 and 17 years have ensured their participation in games like Volleyball, Kabaddi and Kho Kho.
MLA Ramnagar, Mr. Harsh Dev Singh, who was the chief guest on the occasion, inaugurated the tournament and administered oath ceremony to participants.
Lauding the role of Youth Services and Sports Department in organizing sports events, Mr. Singh said that sports activities provide a chance to players to expose their hidden talent. He called for holding more and more such events in rural areas to spout the talent of rural youth.
The District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Udhampur, gave a detailed resume of sports events taking place in the district and future strategies in this direction to promote games in educational institutions.
A scintillating cultural bonanza was also presented by students and local artists, Mr. Ram Ditta and party.
Earlier, the MLA also distributed prizes and trophies among best players
