| SRTC Accounts Officer caught red handed accepting bribe | | |

State Vigilance Organization caught red handed Ghulam Mohammad. Bhat, Accounts Officer posted in State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) Srinagar while accepting Rs.10,000 as bribe for settlement of pensionary benefits.
According to the report one Bashir Ahmad Zargar Electrician (Rtd) S/o Ghulam Ahmad Zargar R/o Balgarden Srinagar lodged a written complaint with P/S VOK stating that he had retired from Government. service in the year 2006. His pensionery benefits case amounting to Rs.2, 57, 000 was lying with Ghulam Mohammed Bhat, Accounts Officer posted in SRTC Hqrs. Srinagar who did not process his case in spite of repeated requests. The Accounts Officer demanded illegal gratification of Rs.10, 000 for settlement of his pension case.
A case FIR No. 34/2007 was registered in Police Station Vigilance Organization Kashmir and investigation taken up. In the course of investigation the officials of State Vigilance Organization laid a successful trap in SRTC Headquarters, Srinagar and accused Ghulam. Mohammad. Bhat, Accounts Officer was caught red handed while accepting the bribe of Rs.10, 000 from the complainant in presence of independent witnesses. The tainted money was recovered from his possession. The accused was taken into custody for further investigation.
