| ‘Sakha Ram Binder’ staged | | | JAMMU | MAY 19 Theatre Mitra staged Vijay Tendulkar’s play Sakha Ram Binder at Abhinav Theatre here today. Sakha Ram character was played by Sanjay Kapil, an unmarried middle aged person who is working as a binder in the press and is living the life in his own style and depicts himself as lord of his house. He was unmarried but often is in search of women who are harassed by their husbands and want shelter somewhere. Sakharam bring Lakshmi which was played by Lalita Tapasvi as his sixth women from a village Sonawon and tells her that she had to do all the work properly and to spend her life as his wife. Lakshmi who believe in God accepts his agreement. After one year as per his routine Sakharam feels no charm in her and ask he to leave the house. Next day he brings Champa, a beautiful women, which was played by Sapna Soni who was a victim of her husband a police constable whom she left. Champa as an orphan from childhood had borne a lot in her life and now become a bold women. She rejects all the orders of Sakharam pertaining to the household work as well as his sexual satisfaction. The Lakshmi who was sent back finds no berth in the society comes back to the Sakharam’s house where she finds Champa enjoying romance with Dawood a Sakharam’s friend which was played by Ajay Safaya Lakshmi tells Sakhar about the affair of Champa with Dawood with a view to find a berth in his house. Sakharam beats Champa and after her reaction Sakharam gets he murdered. At last Sakharam a mirdang player who also used the women for his satisfaction repent upon his whole life as he fails to bind the relation with any of his seven women. The other character’s in the play include Shindey, Pahalwan 1, Pahalwan 2 was played by Harbans Sharma Rajiv Sharma and Vikas Sharma. Pandit Mangat Ram Sharma Minister for Health and Education, labour & Ladakh affairs was the Chief Guest and Dr. Rafiq Masoodi, Secretary J&K cultural Academy was the guest of honour on the occasion. Large number of people who witnessed the play appreciated it.
