| Security forces on high alert to check fresh infiltration | | BIDS FROM ACROSS LINE OF CONTROL,INTERNATIONAL BORDER | |
Jammu, May 20, If official reports are any guide groups of militants have been camping across R.S.Pura,Samba,Poonch,Rajouri,Kupwara and Uri sectors for infiltrating into Jammu and Kashmir.
Official sources said that reports from across the border revealed that most of the boys, waiting for sneaking into Jammu and Kashmir, were keen to join the mainstream after bidding farewell to the gun. Some among them had simply crossed over to Pakistan and occupied Kashmir and had realised their folly. They were keen to return and start a peaceful living.
Official sources said that in the recent past an attempt was made to snap the barbed wire fence on the International Border in the Jammu sector but the alert guards had foiled their attempt. According to the reports the BSF,guarding the 187 km long international Border, have been asked to intensify round the clock patrolling so that not a single boy was able to infiltrate into the Jammu sector.Similar instructions had been issued to the troops, especially in north Kashmir where the rate of ingress from the Kupwara sector had shown an upward trend in recent weeks. It is in the context of the movement of militants across the border various political parties have been favouring a safe passage for those Kashmiri boys who had gone to Pakistan or occupied Kashmir and for those foreign mercenaries who were operating in Jammu and Kashmir and were eager to return to their home land. Former Pakistan occupied Kashmir President and Prime Minister,Sardfar Abdul Qayoom Khan, during his recent visit to Delhi, too had suggested safe passage for the boys which could improve the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
However, the police authorities are apprehensive of the safe passage suggestion.A senior police pofficer said that "those who wish to return should first be handedover to the police so that their bona fides were established during questioning in the Joint integrroation Centre. He said once they were sent to the interrogation centre police could have details of their parents and area warranted for keepinthem undert surveillance. Others said that in the past even the surrendered militants had, later become active, and had rejoined their parent outfits.
