Jammu, Nov 21 : Central Ground Water Board, North Western Himalayan Region, Jammu organized a very stimulating and inspiring Tier-II Training program on "Sustainable Development & Management of Ground Water Resources" with an objective to build capacity amongst Scientists, Engineers, Scholars from Academic institutes, NGO's and other Stake holders in water resources sector and also provide platform to stakeholders to enhance and widen their analytic skills with the help of series of lectures and field demonstration of latest state of art equipment used in ground water exploration. Around 33 stakeholders from various State government departments viz. PHE, I&FC, Forest, Soil Conservation, Agriculture, Research Scholars from University, etc. participated in the training program. The one week training program commenced with the very informative and educative lecture of N. R. Bhagat, Head of Office, on "Ground Water Scenario of J&K State". There were lectures delivered by highly learned resource persons like D. Jamloki, Scientist 'C', who gave a lecture on - 'Construction of Infiltartion Well' which emphasized on its benefits in foothills areas of Shiwalik. Vinod Sharma, Scientist 'C', gave a lecture on - Drilling Techniques. The scientists from CGWB also gave lectures on various topics like Aquifer Information & Management System, Geophysical Resistivty Surveys, Borehole Geophysical Logging, Drilling Techniques, Artificial Recharge of Ground Water, Hydro-Chemical analysis, Pumping Test for Aquifer Parameter etc. During the field visit to Surinsar - Mansar area, demonstration of GPS, Resistivity Meter, Dug Well Inventory, Ground Water Sample Collection etc., were shown. DipankarSaha, Member (RGI) and Dr. V. S. Manhas, distributed the certificates to the officer trainees. The training concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Smt. PriyaKanwar, Scientist, CGWB, Jammu. |
