| Sikhs continued protest against DSS in Jammu | | Shri Akal Takhat’s verdict will be final: Sikh Sangat | |
Jammu | May 20 Various Sikh organizations continued their protest against the ‘sacrilege act and blasphemy’ here today and a meeting of the Sikh organizations was convened here today. The meeting convened at the main Gurudrawa at Nanak Nagar Jammu wherein Sikh representations and intellects from othet communities participated and expressed their opinions over the recent controversy of the ‘sacrilege act’. Representatives from DGPC, SGPC and intellectuals in a meeting chaired by T S Wazir president DGPC Jammu unanimously decided to support the decision of Shri Akal Takhat the highest religious body of Sikhs in this controversial issue. During the proceedings of the meetings the representatives maintain communal harmony also. Besides prominent Sikh leaders and religious preachers others who marked this unique protest included Dr Nirmal Singh national executive member BJP and ex-state president of the party, Balraj Puri eminent human right activists and intellectual and others. This marked meeting pointed out that people should not fiddle or hurt the religious sentiments of any community/fraternity in the society. Meanwhile the violent protests were staged on various Sikh dominated localities where protestors raising slogans against the Dera Sacha Souda Punjab demanded early arrest of the said Mahant who figured himself as a 10th Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The protestors demanded CBI inquiry in this act of sacrilege and implementations of strong measures to stop the violation of Maryada (code of conduct of particular religion). Local residents of Gadigarh, chatha camp leaded by Mahila wing president Harbans Kour strongly condemned the self-styled Guru and Chief of Dera Sacha Sauda. Harjeet Singh Kartar, President, Nirbho Nirbar Sikh Organisation, J&K, Hardeep Singh, Manjeet Kour, and Harbans Kour also spoke on this protest venue.
Similar protests were staged at other areas, the protestor brandishing swords burning tyres created road blockades and demanded action against the self-styled Guru and Chief of Dera Sacha Sauda. The protestors said that ¬the action of the said person is highly objectionable and cannot be tolerated at any cost by the Sikh Community. They appealed the Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh to immediately intervene in this matter in this matter otherwise action shall be taken and Sikh Committee shall not tolerate such incidents at the same time asked Chief Minister of Punjab Parkash Singh Badal to initiate a CBI inquiry.
