Highway remain closed
8/8/2006 7:42:53 PM

The 300-km-long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway remained closed for vehicular traffic for the second consecutive day in the day after landslides triggered by incessant rains clogged the arterial route leaving over 100 cars stranded.

Men and machine of the Border Roads Organisation worked round the clock to clear the highway of debris after landslides following pounding rains in Patnihal area in the Ramban-Ramsoo sector left the road blocked and vehicles stranded, officials said.

However, continuous rains were making the task of BRO to re-open the highway for traffic difficult.

No traffic was allowed today from Jammu and Srinagar cities for respective destinations on the highway, they said.
