| With Rs 50 crore departmental allocations, HG Jawans get only 410 per month | | | Jammu, May 20 With a whooping 54 crore allocations being released for their department every year, twenty five hundred Home Guard Jawans in Jammu and Kashmir get only a paltry sum of Rs 410 per month as remuneration. Even though working shoulder to shoulder with their counter parts in Auxiliary police and JKP, for most of the part of the month their children had to go to bed empty stomach. While officially they are being paid only for nine days a month, their services are always required by police officers either at their home as domestic servants or as office boy in their offices. These Home guards are indeed the worst victim of our unbecoming system where policies are made only to be exploited by the big fishes in their favour. Same is true for the 2500 Home Guard Jawans, many of them having more than fifteen years standing yet without any guarantee of getting their due in future. "We were being deprived even of our dues like the allowances of Rs 135 per day for yearly 60 day training" said a HG constable preferring anonymity adding 'we have been subjected to all type of inhuman treatment but we could not raise our voice out of fear" "Despite getting Rs 54 crore as yearly allocation most of the Home Guard Jawans are being denied even uniform and other expenses due to us", he said. "You know they are even detecting Rs 30 from Rs 135 per day allowance that we get for yearly sixty day training" said he lowly as if trying to show his helplessness, adding 'Any one who dares to object is thrown out" There is also discrimination between the Home Guard volunteers of Kashmir and Jammu. While people posted at Jammu are being paid Rs 410 for nine days, those in Kashmir are given Rs 518 for thirteen days
