| Cop arrested with 850 gms of Heroin | | | Jammu, May 20 A constable of Jammu and Kashmir police today landed in police lockup following recovery of 850 gms of Heroin, worth more than rupees 80 lakh in international market, from his possession in Reasi district of west Jammu. The constable, identified as Jarnail Singh, was arrested during a routine checking by police on the outskirts of Reasi town, an official spokesman disclosed. Giving details, the spokesman said that during the routine checking the constable refused to allow the cops to check the bag he was carrying. "This created suspicion and led to the recovery of some packets containing white powder", sources said adding, "On the examination it was found that the packets contain 850 gms of Heroin worth more than rupees 80 lakh in international market". The cop, who is posted in a police station in Kathua district, had specially gone to Reasi to collect the consignment of drugs. Sources revealed that the consignment was to be taken to Punjab where from it was to be handed over to another person to be sold in Mumbai market. Police is questioning the accused to get some more clues about the persons involved in the racket.
