KP votes likely to get divided in Habba Kadal constituency | | | Sandeep Bhat
Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 23 : More than 17,000 Kashmiri Pandit (KP) voters in the prestigious Habba Kadal constituency are bound to get divided as there are three KP candidates in the fray namely Raman Mattoo, former minister and Congress leader, BJP leader Moti Koul, who is riding on Modi wave, and Lok Jan Shakti Party leader Sanjay Saraf who originally hails from Anantnag. So there are three KP candidates in Habba Kadal constituency which is an indication that like the last assembly election, this time too, the community votes will get divided not among them only but among NC candidate Shamima Firdous and PDP candidate Zaffar Mehraj. The 17 thousand KP voters will play an important role in case there is complete election boycott in the valley. Every candidate in Habba Kadal constituency is hopeful of doing well in elections . Talking to Early Times, Raman Mattoo said that he had done lot of work during his tenure as minister for roads and building and industries and commerce. "I am staying in Srinagar most of the time and touring different areas of his constituency. During flash floods, I was with them and tried to help them and mitigate their genuine problems. My voters are not only Pandits but Muslims also and Congress party believes in true secularism," he added. "My voters know everything and the people in valley and my pandit brethren will vote for the right candidate and they will not go by hollow slogans or any wave," he said. Sanjay Saraf claims to be the "messiah" of the people. He was initially hopeful of getting BJP ticket but when the party nominated another person, Lok Jan Shakti party gave him the mandate. Being a KP himself, Saraf is eyeing the 17 thousand Pandit voters and claims to have the support of Muslims also. For the last many years, he is camping in Srinagar and now expects a miracle from Habba Kadal constituency. If election boycott call remains successful, these KP migrant voters will decide the destiny of the prestigious Habba Kadal constituency. BJP candidate Moti Koul is wholly depending on Modi wave. He enjoys no local support either. He is being considered as an outsider because he is not also a migrant. He hopes that majority of people will vote for Modi indirectly if not directly for him. He is also claiming to be the favourite of the people but it is the time which will at least decide the fate of Habba Kadal constituency and KP votes will get divided at any cost. |
