| SIM card recovered from defused bomb in Hyderabad | | | HYDERABAD, MAY 19 Investigations into the Mecca masjid bomb blast case got a breakthrough with the recovery of a SIM card from a mobile phone connected to one of the unexploded bombs in the mosque premises, an official source today said. A bomb disposal squad from the blast-hit mosque premises yesterday recovered a SIM card from a mobile phone attached to an unexploded Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), which was later defused by them, a source from Andhra Pradesh Forensic Science Laboratory (APFSL) told PTI here. "The defused bombs were attached to a Nokia mobile and we have began tracing the person with the help of the SIM card," the source said. Terror struck during Friday prayers at the historic Mecca mosque here yesterday when a powerful bomb ripped through a gathering of thousands, leaving 14 people dead, including some killed in police firing during subsequent protests. Three live bombs were detected at the mosque in the communally-sensitive Charminar area and defused -- two soon after the blast at 1.30 pm in an area where ablutions are performed and the third later in the evening near the gate. Police is suspecting that Andhra Pradesh's most wanted terrorist Mohammed Abdul Sahed alias Bilal has masterminded the blast to divide two communities by creating communal tension in the peaceful city, a police officer involved in the investigating team said. Bilal, who works for terror groups like Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohmmed (JeM) operates from Bangladesh and Pakistan. The state police had recently asked the CBI to consult Interpol to issue a red corner notice against Bilal. A suspected ISI agent arrested by Task Force last month had revealed that he was assigned to recruit youth to carry out violent activities in the city. The 26-year-old Maqsood Ahmed is now incarcerated in Cherlapalli jail here.
