| Sharma demands Air, Rail connection for Rajouri, Poonch | | |
Kalakote | May 20 A one day convention of Congress workers of Rajouri district was held at village Badoon in Rajouri today in which a large number of party workers participated. Addressing the convention, JKPCCC General Secretary and MLC Ashok Sharma demanded air service to Rajouri and Poonch and also linking these twin border districts be rail for their speedy development. He also called for promotion of tourism in the area as it has abundant natural beauty, high mountains and revered shrines. Sharma urged for opening of police stations at Chingus and Mithiani to strengthen security network, besides augmenting drinking water and power supply, up-gradation of schools and ensuring road connectivity to all far flung areas of Kalakote. Those who also addressed the convention were Som Raj Khajuria, Ch. Qamar Hussain, Ch. Khaliq Hussain, Baldev Singh, Mirza Sajad, Abdul Jabber, Mohammed. Shabir Mirza, Mohammed Akram, Amar Nath, Jabi Malik, Mukhtar Hussain and Nisar Akhtar. Several prominent political activists of Badoon area joined Congress party on the occasion and expressed their confidence in the leadership of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and lauded his pro-people policies.
