MCC hampers relief work in Rajoiuri

Rajouri, Nov 25: Taking advantage of preparations for smooth conduct of polling scheduled on December 20, district administration has sidelined the more important issues related to the welfare of the people and especially to mitigate the problems being faced by the victims of Natural calamity that struck the district in the month of September.
Every day women, children me have been holding protests to get necessary relief from the administration but their every effort ends only with hollow promises and excuses like implementation of Model Code of Conduct.
On Monday police booked some people in Manjakot tehsil o the pretext that they have assaulted a police party while protesting against tehsildar, district administration , Tehsil Supply Officer (TSO) and others for their failure to provide free ratio as well as ration on payments at government fair price shops for the last three months.
Many school buildings, bridges, foot bridges were also damaged fully or partially by Landslides followed by incessant rains I the first week of September.
One such foot bridge was also damaged at village Larkuti in Kotranka tehsil in the district. The bridge was serving a major link with other parts of the district for the inhabitants of villages Mora, Larkuti, Dhiman, Karag etc.
"Despite several representations to the district authorities including SDM, Kotranka, action was take till today by the concerned officials to carry out necessary repairs of the bridge. Hundreds of students, employees, locals facing may problems to cross the rivulet due to knee deep icy water. Most of them at the cost of their lives, including school going children, crossing the river by crawling on iron ropes holding the remaining half foot bridge and are tied with the pillars o both the sides of the bridge. District Development Commissioner when contacted in the past had said that the required estimate for the repairs of damaged infrastructures has already been forwarded to the state government and they are waiting for the release of the funds.
On the other hand Sukhpal Singh, SDM Kotranka while talking to reporters said that soon the construction work will be take in hands and people will not be allowed to use iron ropes to cross the river.
