MENDHAR, Nov 25: A major infiltration bid was tonight foiled by troops from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Balakote sub-sector of Mendhar.
A group of 10 to 12 militants was spotted by border troops on the Pak side of LoC in Balakote sub-sector at about 8.30 pm, official sources said.
When the troops challenged them, they opened fire which was returned.
The Pak army also opened the mouth of their guns to give cover to the militants, the sources added.
When reports last came, the exchange of fire between the two sides was continuing. Sources said though the militants had been pushed back to the Pak territory, a tight vigil was being maintained by the border troops all along the LoC. |
