UIDAI meetig held at Jammu

Jammu, Nov 26: CS Sapru Joint Director, Census Operations, J&K today chaired a meeting with his team to review the progress of National Population Report (NPR) held at Spice Food Junction, Jammu in which chairperson revealed that Prime Minister Office (PMO) wants to create NPR permanent centre in tehsil headquarters of the state Surender Kumar Deputy Director and P K Negi Assistant Director, Census operation J&K also were present in this meeting.
Official spokesperson said that meeting was attended by officers from UIDAI, Chandigarh, ECIl, Hyderabad Enrolment agencies and officials from DCO.
In his presidential address Joint Director Census, apprised gathering about the current status of BME work and problem being faced in accomplishing the BME work.
The Joint Director exhorted all the concerned quarters to make necessary arrangement for creating permanent BME centers at tehsil level office in each district as the Prime Minister Office (PMO)want to create NPR permanent centre in tehsil headquarters of the state where two BME kits would be installed to capture biometric of left out persons and also capture beneficiary group in the tehsils like BPL, LPG subsidy, SC/ST scholarships etc.
The scheme of Direct Benefit Transfer is intended to start in the state from March, 2015, he said while adding, "communication has been sent from Home Secretary, Government of India to the Chief Secretary to initiate the wrap up process and create BME center ateach tehsil of the state."In all, he said,"302 such BME centers have to be started in the State by the end of this month and Rs 5000/- have been earmarked for all tehsils for upkeepment of BME centers in the state." Earlier he presented an audio visual presentation to review of District wise progress of service providers viz; M/s Chinar Data Management Services, M/s Comtech Info Solution Ltd and M/s Karvy Data Management Services in capturing Biometric of usual residents of the State. He said out of the total population 51 lakhs has been completed so far under Biometric NPR and further emphasized all the enrolment agencies to complete the BME capturing under National Population Register by 31st March as per the directions of PMO Office.
