| Pahari Forum takes out protest rally at Mandi | | |

Activists of State Pahari Welfare Forum led by its president, Lokesh Kumar Sharma, today took out a protest rally at Mandi in support of their demand for grant of Scheduled Tribe status to the Pahari speaking people of the State.
While addressing the protestors, the Forum President said although the successive Governments at the State and the Centre have described the demand as just and genuine but regretted that nothing has been done to give these assurances a practical shape
He said the Chief Ministers and other responsible dignitaries have always given firm commitment for grant of ST status to the ethnic entity but nothing concrete has been done so far. As a result of the callous attitude of the ruling party at Centre as well as at the State, the woes of the Pahari speaking people have increased considerably.
Among others who spoke on the occasion included Shakeel Azad, Shamim Ganai, Akbar Ali Ansari, Qalab Abas, Ravinder Kumar Bitta, Mohammed Akbar Khan, Mohd. Akram Lone, Ghulam Ahmed, Mohammed Bashir Tantary, Najm-ul-Hassan Jafri and Sabar Hussain.
