| NCSU registers protest against lack of basic amenities in JU | | Locks UWD office, hold officials captive for over one hour | | Jammu | May 21 To register their protest against the lack of basic amenities in Jammu University (JU) Campus, the activists of National Conference Students Union (NCSU) today locked the office of JU Works Department from outside and held the officials captive for over one hour this afternoon. Meanwhile, activists opened the lock only after the assurance from Dean Students Welfare to look into the matter. The NCSU activists were protesting against the lack of basic amenities in campus. They were immediate repairing of all the non-functional water coolers installed in different departments. Activists alleged that these water coolers were lying non functional from last several months causing great in convenience to students in this summer season. They also alleged that fans in various classrooms are non functional while the officials enjoying the cool breeze of Air Conditioners. NCSU activists also locked the office of Works Department from outside and held the officials including the Executive Engineer captive for over one hour. The lock was opened only after the assurance from Prof PS Pathania to look into the matter. Meanwhile, Executive Engineer, UWD also conceded the demands of activists to frame a committee to visit all the departments for assessing the problems related to basic amenities.
