APSCC welcomes PDP's manifesto for inclusion of Sikh community demands

SRINAGAR, Nov 30: Welcoming the inclusion of demands of Sikh community in manifesto of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC)on Sunday said PDP should be given a clear mandate by the people so that they carrying out their developmental agenda without any interference.
In an issued statement, APSCC Chairman, Jagmohan Singh Raina said that during the three year rule of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed people heaved a sigh of relief as they were given sense of security by the people at helm during the three years. He said that Mufti also pursued many developmental works during his three year tenure that helped a lot in realizing the full potential of tourism sector.
"In manifesto the PDP has said that political reservation would be given to the Sikhs of the state. The party has made it clear that minority status would be given to Sikh community of the state. It has also been mentioned in the manifesto that a Punjabi chair would be set up in the University of Kashmir and that this language would be given due recognition as the third language in the state," said Raina. He further said that the Sikh community in the state has been waiting for the fulfillment of their demands for years now. It is for the first time that a political party has recognized the importance of demands of Sikh community and duly incorporated them in their election manifesto.
"The state government needs to implement the National Minority Act in the state and once this is done the problems of Sikhs would be over. The other minorities should also support PDP so that there is holistic development in the state," said Raina.
He asked the members of community to vote for PDP and not get divided over this issue. He said that vote for PDP would ensure that Kashmiriyat remains intact in the state.
