| Series of operational displays to mark Navy Day on Dec 4 | | | Agencies
Visakhapatnam, Nov 30: A range of activities will be held to commemorate the successful operation conducted by Indian Navy during 1971 war, observed as Navy Day on December 4.
A number of functions will be held to mark the event, including wreath laying at the War Memorial on the RK Beach, operational display of naval ships, submarines, aircraft and the special forces and an aerobatic display by Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) of the Indian Air Force, a Navy release said here today.
"Pakistan economy was choked and led to surrender within 10 days. This victory at sea is a glorious chapter in the history of Indian Navy," the release said.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will be the chief guest.
People can view from RK beach, the manoeuvres by destroyers, stealth frigates, corvettes, fast attack craft and landing ships, beach assault by Marine Commandos, sky diving and other activities.
An Aerobatic Display by Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) of the Indian Airforce Sarang display team will be the highlight of the celebrations.
20 ships, 23 aircraft and a submarine are scheduled to take part in this year's demonstration, it said. |
