Udhampur, Nov 30 : Campaigning for the second phase of polling on six assembly seats of Udhampur and Reasi districts ended today, with every party hoping to win in the triangular contest on most of the seats . A total 18 assembly constituencies, having 2,181 polling stations, are going to polls in the second phase of the polling in Jammu and Kashmir on December 2, in which 15.35 lakh electorate would exercise their franchise. Of the 5,37542 lakh electorate, 2,37,746 are from Udhampur and 2,99,796 from Reasi district. The campaigning in the twin districts came to an end 6 pm today. The fate of 54 candidates would be decided in the December 2 polling. The Election Commission is expecting a brisk polling in the phase-II also after heavy turnout of 71.28 per cent in the Phase-I in which 15 constituencies had gone to polling. Udhampur and Reasi districts comprise of six assembly segments, three in each district. While Udhampur has Udhampur, Ramnagar and Chenani constituencies, Reasi has Reasi, Gulabgarh and Gool-Arnas segments. Reasi assembly segments has the highest number of 1,08,084 voters while Gool-Arnas has the lowest 61,355 electorate. To offer voters a comfortable experience, 45 model polling stations have been set up in Reasi district and 11 in Udhampur district. |
