LUTF take to streets, hold protest rally

Leh, May 22
To protest against the arrest of four LUTF workers who were allegedly involved in extorting money from the non local traders for donation to campaign for the forthcoming election of lower Leh constituency by the district police, the LUTF workers took to the streets of Leh main market and took out a rally.
Also Leh markets and its adjacent areas like Skalzangling, Housing Colony and Choglamsar remained closed for half day until noon. The band was called by the LUTF.
The rally started from upper bus stand, passing from Leh main markets, Senior Superintendent Police Office and culminated at Polo ground.During the rally, the situation was tense as the workers pelted soil and raised slogans like SSP and DSP go back and sham sham. Sources also said, an unidentified man pelted stone toward the DSP.
Rally also participated by the MP Thupstan Chhewang, LAHDC’s Chief Executive Councilor Tsering Dorjai and the Executive members.
