| Maintaining street quality material use: Charak to engineers | | | JAMMU, AUGUST 08- Minister of State for R&B Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak today conducted an extensive tour of R. S. Pura, Panama Chowk, Qasim Nagar, Bahu Fort, etc to inspect the repair and renovation of ongoing development works. At Bahu Fort Temple, the Minister asked Jammu Development Authority to immediately start repair and renovation work of main gate of Bahu Fort, paths and stairs for the benefit of pilgrims. He said that the government has already sanctioned Rs. 10 lakh for this purpose. He asked the engineers of JDA to immediately remove the encroachments from Qasim Nagar road for free traffic regulation and plant trees along the road. He also issued instruction to them to maintain Gole Market Park with modern lines. During his visit to R. S. Pura, he inspected the ongoing construction work of national highway road and asked the engineers of R&B to work in triple shifts and complete the project within 20 days for the benefit of general masses. He asked the engineers to complete other development works which are already ongoing. Mr. Charak asked the engineers to use quality material in construction and report to the higher authorities directly regarding supply of any sub-standard material. He instructed them to refrain from accepting any material, which is not certified in respect of quality, adding that punitive action would be taken against those not adhering to these norms. He said that the massive reconstruction programme launched by government as enshrined in the common minimum programme will bring about socio-economic transformation in the state. He said the ambitious programmes launched by the government can be accomplished only with the active cooperation of people. He asked the authorities of JMC, JDA, Landscape, PWD to complete the repair and renovation work of dilapidated roads and make Jammu city beautiful. He also issued instruction to them to plant trees along the roads and develop the rotaries with modern lines. Later, the Minister convened a high level meeting with senior officers of Revenue, JKPCC, PWD, JMC at Govt. Engineering College at Gandhi Nagar and asked them to complete the repair and renovation work on link roads, lanes, drains and by-lanes within stipulated time frame. He also asked them to personally supervise the works. Among others present in the meeting included Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Mr. Hirdesh Kumar Singh, Vice Chairman Jammu Development Authority Mr. Ashok Parmar, Jammu Municipal Commissioner Mr. Vinod Sharma, Chief Engineer R&B Mr. M. L. Sharma and other senior engineers of PWD, JMC, Landscape and JDA. |
