| Bandh fails to dampen examinees’ spirit | | Full strength witnessed in all UG, PG exams despite absence of public transport | |
Devender Padha Jammu | May 22 The marks of ‘Bandh’ were visible throughout the Jammu city but it failed to deter the spirit of thousands of examinees, who appeared in full strength for various Under Graduate and Post Graduate examinations conducted by University of Jammu (JU) in various examination centers across the Jammu region, despite the absence of public transport system. The call for today’s bandh was given by some radical Sikh organizations of the state in protest against the alleged sacrilegious act committed by the chief of Dera Sacha Sauda, Hissar hurting their religious sentiments. Meanwhile, the Controller of Examination has assured to consider cases of those who failed to turn up in today’s examination due to absence of public transport system. According to reports, barring one or two cases maximum strength of examinees was witnessed in almost all the examination centers where various Under Graduate and Post Graduate examinations were held by JU. In the morning session, Bi-Annual examinations for the various Post Graduate courses were held in University campus. Anticipating trouble, students advanced their departure to the examination center and made sure that they don’t miss the train. Talking to ‘Early Times’, Ranjit Singh, one of the examinees for PG exam said he advanced his departure to ensure timely arrival to the examination hall as bandh was likely to deter him from appearing in examination. While, another examinee Sanjay Sharma expressed satisfaction over the completion of examination as he prepared very hard for today’s examination. Anticipating trouble due to bandh call, almost all of the students had arranged transport for them to reach up to examination halls. Meanwhile, Under Graduate examinations for Part-II were held in the afternoon session which also passed off peacefully amid the presence of full strength of examinees in almost all the examination centers. It is to mention that Bi-Annual examination, Under Graduate Part-II and MD/MS exams were conducted by JU today in various examination centers across the Jammu region. Meanwhile, Prof Deshbandhu, Controller Examination JU has assured to take up the case of those who couldn’t make it to the examination halls due to absence of public transport system.
