Girdle loins to perform: CM tells administration
Finance Commission to be made functional shortly

Jammu, May 22
– Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad Tuesday announced that Financial Commission would shortly be made functional to ensure equitable development of all areas in the state.
Addressing block, tehsil and district level officers of Udhampur and Reasi districts at Udhampur, Chief Minister said that Central Government has provided huge funds to the state to accelerate the development process. “Only pro-active, transparent and prompt administrative machinery is required to deliver on ground”, he added.
“I have initiated a campaign to interact with officers of all levels to sensitize them in respect of their responsibilities”, Chief Minister said adding that to bring about a positive socio-economic change, functionaries have to gear up to deliver. “You have to girdle the loins to give your best”, he told officers.
He said that in most parts of the state working season is limited and topography challenging. To tackle this problem efficient and responsive functionaries are must. “We have to catch up with 21st century”, Mr. Azad maintained, stressing on attitudinal change for public good. He beseeched upon officers to act as an catalyst to speed up development.
He said multi-pronged strategy to address political, social and economic issues has been adopted. The success of the strategy depends on managerial capacity and personal dynamism of administration, he added.
Chief Minister said that the thaw in Indo-Pak relations promises permanent peace and tranquility in the sub-continent. Holding of roundtable conferences, initiating CBMs and opening up of routes across LoC are some important milestones in the march towards peace, he said.
Referring to the bold and historic decisions his government has taken since he took over as Chief Minister, Mr. Azad said “my first step was to remove the stigma of “second most corrupt state” from the face of Jammu and Kashmir”. Strengthening of anti-corruption laws, amendment to anti-defection law and making Vigilance Organization more vibrant and effective are some important measures in this direction.
He said that in order to address development needs of people landmark decision of creation of eight new districts, three sub-divisions and 12 tehsils was taken. “We have gone much ahead of the recommendations of Wazir Commission to accommodate the aspirations of the people across the state”.
Reiterating that vibrant, apolitical, efficient and transparent administration is essential for development, Mr. Azad said that personal interest and devotion of government functionaries is imperative to achieve results.
