| Charala road a distinct dream, ZKP | | ‘PDP, Congress loosing ground’: Daljit, Bhagat | | DODA, MAY23 Taking strong notice over the inordinate delay in completion of Charala road, on which the work was started some 25 years back,Zila Vikas Party ( ZVP) has demanded constitution of a commission to look into the causes of delay and the expenditure incurred on it so far. Addressing media persons here today Thakur Daljit and Raj Dev Bhagat senior leaders of the Party reminded the Chief Minister of his promise made during the bye election to Bhaderwah constituency that work on this vital road would be expedited, these leaders said the way the work is going on currently may take another decade to complete this stretch of the road. The project taken up in 1982 and spending huge sums, the road still remains a distinct dream for the inhabitants of the area.. The Vikas Party leaders said that despite 60 years of Independence, majority of the villages in the district are devoid of road communication what to speak of other development and accused both the State and Central Government for giving step motherly treatment to this hilly district. Little attention has also been paid to develop Bhaderwah, popularly known as Mini Kashmir, as a tourist destination all these years, these leaders said adding that the Bhaderwah Development Authority has failed to provide compensation to the people whose land has been acquired for tourism purposes. The residential houses occupied during last year’s tourist mela and converted as guest houses too have not been paid their rentals so far, they alleged.. Despite Chief Minister’s announcement some two months back that Athkhar, Charala and Bhalla will be converted into blocks, they said nothing has emerged on the ground so far and counseled CM not to befool people on hollow promises and assurances. However, they expressed satisfaction for creation of Sub-Division at Bhelessa,Gandoh and sanctioning a Degree College at Kilotran . Criticizing the self –rule formula and demilitarization of Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, the Vikas Party leaders described the formula as a political gimmick to regain the lost ground and maintained that popularity graph of both Congress and PDP parties has come down considerably.
