‘Nexus between police and politicians’, alleges Nirmal?
CM’s own constituency, a hot bed of militancy, terrorism: BJP
5/23/2007 11:43:20 PM

Jammu May 23- Senior BJP leader today disagreed with the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad’s assertion that the militants are down and out in bulk from the J&K State and maintained that CM’s own constituency has become a hot bed for terrorists..
Addressing a press meet here today, BJP former state president said that ‘What to talk of other areas, the Chief Minister ‘s own constituency has become hot bed of militancy and terrorism, with the local minorities and nationalist Muslims in particular being the main targets of the SHO Gandoh, Farooq Ahmed Wani and militants nexus in the area.
He also alleged that Chief Minister and Director General of Police Gopal Sharma, with the help of their henchman, Farooq Ahmed Wani are responsible for the migration of 21 families of the Hindu minorities comprising 65 members, including women and children from Sawara. He believes that there is a nexus between politicians and some police officials, which is evident from the fact that the agreement under which these families went back to Sawara has not been implemented. The agreement includes the transfer of SHO Farooq Ahmed Wani, action against him, installation of CRPF post, holding a magisterial inquiry, to set up a VDC comprising the locals to meet the militants’ threat.
He also disclosed the names of the persons, who were helping the security forces in their operations against the militants but became a target of nexus between the politicians and police officials and quoted some of them including Haji Umar Din, Sarpanch and very respectable figure in Chilli, Aashiq Hussian ,a teacher of Malikpura, Nazir Ahmed, a rewardee of Rs 15,000 from the security forces plus a letter of appreciation for his help. These peoples were tortured and harassed by the SHO Gandoh, and also questioned DGP Gopal Sharma that how a person belongs to JKAP can be posted as SHO of a police station of such a sensitive area.
Expressing grave concern over it, he asked the CM to explain the reasons behind such a special treatment to SHO Gandoh whose credentials are extremely doubtful and appears to be hand-in-glove with the militants operating in the area.
He urges the State Chief Minister to look into the matter and provide adequate security to the BJP activists of Bhalessa Mandal, local nationalist Muslims, who are fighting for strengthening nationalist forces in the militancy-hit area and restore the confidence of the nationalist Muslims who have been risking their lives for the cause of the country.
