| J&K Roller skaters bring laurels to state | | | Jammu | May 23 State skaters have brought laurels to Jammu and Kashmir by exhibiting a superb performance in 44th National Roller Skating Tourney and claiming overall 16 medals. This superb performance has not only made them to be in a toppers tally but also to convince the authorities with their marked talent for being on the wheels. Contingent of Jammu and Kashmir including both boys and girls during their participation in the 44th National tournament organized at Kolkatta in west Bengal under the banner of Roller Skating federation of India. The players of the Jammu and Kashmir gave tough competition to their rivals and shared the stand many times be it in individual competitions or the team events. In an over all performance they surprised other participants and claimed the crown. Divij Balotra of Jammu and Kashmir was also adjudged champion of the champions for the second consecutive time. He clinched two gold and one silver medal in junior (12-14 years) age group. In Hockey J&K men team bagged a silver medal losing to tough side of Chandigarh in the final. The men team was led by Sourab Bakshi while Yugraj Singh was Vice-Captain. Other two bronze medals were won by junior boys and junior girls teams winning their respective hardliners. In Speed events, J&K won 13 medals including two gold, five silver and six bronze. The medal winners were Divij Balotra ( 12-14 years, two gold and one silver); Milanpal Singh (above 16 years, silver medal); Shubam Dev Manhas (14-16 years, two silver); Mir Danyal (12-14 year, one silver and one bronze); Rahul Verma (above 16 years, one bronze); Raghini Gupta (above 16 years, bronze); Veerta Singh Salathia (14-16 year, bronze); Shivang Gupta (10-12 year, bronze), Hiteshwar (8-10 year, bronze). the medal winners and their parents were congratulated by the president of J&K Roller Skating Association, G S Khurmi. He asked the players to continue their efforts in same zeal and triumph at the national and international level, so as to make their parents and state proud. Khurmi had word of praise for Dixit Gupta, who scored maximum goals in silver winner junior boys hockey teams. Khurmi also witnessed the performance of state teams during his visit to the venue and patted the upcoming skaters for their improved performance. They were Abik Gupta, Payal Sharma, Vaibhav Gupta, Rohan Kapoor, Arpit Verma, Ishan Sharma, Izaan Dawar, Shivika Sharma and Muskan Talwar. Medal winning teams in hockey were as follows: Men team (Silver medal): Sourab Bakshi (captain), Yugraj Singh (Vice-captain), Vinay Bakshi, Joshpal Singh (goal-keeper), Arvindeep Singh, Aryavir Singh, Ankush Kohli, Atul Sharma, Gagandeep Singh (goal-keeper) and Sanjeev Kumar. Junior girls (bronze): Akshi Goel (captain), Prakriti Sharma (goal-keeper), Mishika Dhar (goal-keeper), Aashana Sharma, Virta Singh, Kanveet Kour, Prakriti Gabgotra, Aakriti Mahajan, Tarandeep Kour and Mahima Gandotra. Junior boys (bronze): Dixit Gupta (captain), Ankush Gupta, Jatin Sabharwal, Rahul. Sharma, Abhishek Gupta, Dananjay Charak, Vishesh Singh and Arnan Anand.
