| Lone’s statement on trifurcation of J&K hailed | | | Jammu May-23 Former Vice Chairman of dissolved Jammu State Morcha and Vice President JMC, Amarnath Gupta has welcomed the statement of Chairman Peoples Conference Sajad Lone ‘acknowledging that Jammu and Ladakh regions have been given a raw deal and have a genuine grouse of being discriminated against’. Hailing the support extended by any Kashmiri leader, for the first time, to the demand of trifurcation of State, with Jammu and Kashmir forming separate States and Ladakh as a Union territory, Gupta however, opposed the Lone’s suggestion that Muslim majority districts of Rajouri, Poonch and Doda in Jammu region should have the option to dismember from Jammu region and join the Kashmir region. In a press statement issued here today, Gupta has termed this division on communal lines and dangerous and opined that the whole of Jammu region including Muslim majority districts are against the continuous domination of Kashmir and asserted that they are in unanimity with the Hindus of other districts to break the shackles of Kashmiri domination over Jammu region. ‘Demanding that reorganization and trifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir state should be on regional lines, as they stood in 1947’, Gupta maintained that ‘the distinct identify as well as equitable development of all the sub-regions in Jammu, particularly in hilly areas could be taken care of within the frame work of separate Jammu State’. Appealing the supporters of separate statehood for Jammu to get united on a single platform, Gupta sought support of Kashmiri leaders, who are in favour of trifurcation of the state, purely on regional lines. He has also appealed the BJP to come out openly in support of the demand of separate statehood to Jammu.
