| Water OH tank inaugurated | | | JAMMU, MAY 23 (INFO)- Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Mr Mohammad Dilawar Mir has said that ensuring basic facilities to the people in all areas of the state is top on agenda of the government. He said keeping this in view, a massive infrastructure development programme has been launched in all sectors of development across the state. The Minister was inaugurating an overhead water tank of one lakh gallon capacity at Durganagar here this evening. He announced that six more tube-wells would be constructed in the area to further augment water supply to facilitate the people within shortest possible time. He emphasized upon the concerned engineers to complete these tube-wells speedily by executing the work even in double-shift. Referring to the newly constructed overhead tank as part of the scheme of improvement and augmentation of water supply in migrant camp phase-I at Muthi and adjoining localities, Mr Dilawar Mir said that the entire scheme is estimated to cost Rs 4.63 crore. He said it will benefit the inhabitants of migrant camp phase-I, Durganagar, Sharika Vihar, Chak Muthi, Suryavanshi Nagar and adjoining areas. The Minister said that food, air and water are basic ingredients for sustaining life and added that adequate water supply to the people would be the top priority. He issued instructions to the engineers to attend to the development needs of the people so that they do not face any difficulty on account of water supply or availability of other basic necessities. Mr Dilawar Mir said that peace and dialogue process as well as CBMs are moving forward resolutely to address all issues and called upon people to strengthen communal harmony, secularism, unity, brotherhood and amity to make Jammu and Kashmir a highly developed and khushal state in the country. He lauded the performance of the engineers in speedy completion of the project by executing the scheme in a time bound manner. He also praised them for constructing 10 tube-wells within a shortest possible time frame to provide drinking water to people in the wake of damage to Sitlee filtration plant last year. Earlier, the Minister also inaugurated pumping station at Muthi. MLA Mr Mula Ram speaking on the occasion gave details of development schemes completed, under-execution and in the pipeline in his constituency. He said the government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad has launched mega development projects in all sectors in the state to ensure all round development. He said that with the construction of 6 more tube-wells in the area, the drinking water supply to the people would get further augmented. Corporator Ms Shiela Handoo presented development demands of the area and expressed her gratitude for completion of overhead water tank at Durganagar. Chief Engineer PHE Jammu Mr V.K Goswami and other senior engineers, officers, prominent persons and a large number of people of the area were present on the occasion.
