1055 kanlas of land being brought under mulberry plantation in Kupwara

Srinagar, AUGUST 08 – Over Rs. 23 lakh have been allocated for promotion of sericulture sector in Kupwara district during the current financial year.
This was given out at an officers meeting convened by the District Development Commissioner at Kupwara today.
The meeting was informed that 1055 kanals of land is being brought under mulberry plantation by planting 1.17 lakh plants while a target to produce 3500 kgs of cocoon has been fixed for the current year. The department has also a proposal for installing 48 incubation centers in the district and currently 8 mulberry nurseries are been by developed for promotion of sericulture activity.
