DDC reviews sheep husbandry

RAJOURI, MAY 23
The sheep and goat population has reached all time high 9.82 lakh, including 2.43 lakh cross breed population of high yielding like Merino. The district has also registered the 32.8 lakh kg and 6.80 lakh kg mutton and wool production respectively during the last financial year.
This information was given to the District Development Commissioner, Rajouri Mr. Rafiq Ahmed Sheikh during a review of the sheep husbandry sector. It was given out in the meeting that 482 superior quality of rams and bucks has been distributed among the breeders in the district.
Moreover, the department administered dosings and vaccinations to over 10.71 lakh sheep heads. There has been an increase of 1.30 lakh sheep population during the period.
In addition the department also realized an amount of over Rs. 8.84 lakh during the reported period in the district
