A 200-bedded hospital for Shopian on anvil: Mangat

Minister for Health and Medical Education Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma has said that 200-bedded modern hospital with latest infrastructure would come up shortly at Shopian. The Minister was chairing a meeting held to discuss health related problems of newly created Shopian district.
MLA Shopian Mr. Ghulam Hussan Khan, Secretary Health and Medical Education Mr. K. B. Jandial, Directors of Health Services Kashmir and Jammu Dr. Muzaffar Ahmad and Dr. Jasbir Singh were also present.
The Minister said that in this regard around Rs. 70 lakh have already been kept at the disposal of the concerned Deputy Commissioner for acquiring land for construction of hospital building. Works on construction of Primary Health Centre at Sadoo coming up at a cost of Rs. 1.5 crore is in progress and will be completed at an earliest, he said and added that 5 kanals of land of horticulture department has already been transferred to the department for construction of sub-district hospital at Keller. He issued directions to the concerned authorities to come up with project report so that necessary action plan is drawn up to start construction work. He further directed the concerned authorities to initiate steps to provide necessary staff and other basic infrastructure at all Primary Health Centres in Shopian so that people get best medicare facilities at their doorsteps.
MLA Shopian projected various health related demands on the occasion. The demands included provision of ambulance to all PHCs, provision of staff to 5 PHCs, opening of PHC at Hirpur village on Mughal Road, regularization of dispensaries/PHCs functioning at various places on internal arrangements and appointment of drivers of ambulances.
Earlier a deputation comprising leaders of all political parties of block Drubshella tehsil Kishtwar called on Mr. Sharma and demanded that village Patanzi and Jawalapur of tehsil Kishtwar be retained in the jurisdiction tehsil and district Kishtwar instead of district Doda.
